Water is life, and clean water means health.
Clean water revolutionizes lives by bringing improvements to the health, education, and economies of entire communities. RISE Haiti is committed to bringing clean drinking water to as many local Haitian communities as possible. We have drilled 8 water wells in Vignier and the surrounding areas. And with the support of people like you, we can do much, much more!
Less than half of Haitians in rural areas have access to water. People living in the countryside are generally served through piped water systems with standpipes or water points with hand pumps. However, a substantial portion of these systems are not operational due to a lack of funds for operation and maintenance.
Clean drinking water saves lives by limiting exposure to malaria, cholera, and other diseases that spread through contaminated water. It also makes a difference in local education. Less time collecting water means more time in the classroom for school-age children. The cost to build a water well is about $5200 and takes about 2 days to complete. We hire local equipment companies and laborers to bring this life-changing resource to those who need it most.
