Building Haiti

Meaningful progress in Haiti is made in slow, steady steps. We know big things can be accomplished with patience, persistence, and dedication. This is the philosophy behind RISE Haiti’s relentless drive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. Little by little, person by person, deed by deed, we build our country.

Piti, piti, wazo fe nich li.

Little by little the bird builds it's nest.

HAITIAN PROVERB

THE COUNTRY

Discovered by Columbus in 1492, Haiti, Land of Mountains, is located on the island of Hispaniola which it shares with the Dominican Republic. During it’s long European colonization, Haiti was considered the richest colony of the French empire. Today, this Caribbean nation hosts a population of nearly 11 million people and is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Years of devastating deforestation, political unrest, and natural disasters have ravaged this once vibrant land.

WHO WE ARE
